New York, NY – Phillip Salem’s beloved innovative meatpacking boutique, OWEN, announces a hiatus starting July 31st, ceasing operation at 809 Washington Street.
The abrupt closure is a result of the landlord’s plans to demolish and rebuild, which were expedited by the city's approval. Salem made the difficult decision to put OWEN and OWENNYC.COM on hiatus to focus on relocating in order to continue to flourish as one of the most sought after boutiques in the city.
OWEN opened its doors in June 2012 hitting the retail scene as one of the most progressive, forward thinking stores the city has seen in years. With unparalleled customer service, a 25,000 brown paper bag installation, and a highly curated collection of statement-making pieces, OWEN truly is like no other. Salem, pushes boundaries by hand selecting styles from the world’s most exclusive brands including Cushnie et Ochs, SUNO, Tanya Taylor, Jonathon Simkhai, Ohne Titel, and ACNE Studios.
Salem will continue to develop The OWEN Bag, his private label luxury handbag collection that will debut at NYFW in September for wholesale. The strong, sleek, and sexy bags strike a balance between impactful design and simplicity.
Salem, known for his positive attitude, is facing this challenge head on and with a smile, saying "Things happen for a reason and I think this obstacle will turn out to be a blessing with OWEN having its best year in 2016".
